Solar cells cannot be used to satisfy all our needs because it
is expensive to manufacture Silicon is abundantly
available in the environment but the special grade of silicon used
to make solar cells are limited, silver used in the interconnection
of cells in panel also increases the cost
Even though solar cells are expensive the are used for many
scientific technological applications Artificial satellites space
probes like Mars orbitors use these as a source of energy Radio or
wireless transmission systems or TV relay stations in remote
locations use solar panels Traffic signals, toys, calculators are
fitted with solar cells
