Phosphine is not used in smoke screens usually white or red phosphorus is used for making smoke screen grenades.

Dear Student,

Phosphine is used production of smoke screens.

Shells containing calcium phosphide, on explosion, reacts with water producing phosphine which burns in air to give clouds of P4O10 which acts as smoke screens.
