plz explain input and output characteristics of transistor

In common emitter configuration, input characteristics is the plot obtained by tracing the variation of input current I_B with the input voltage V_BE. Similarly, the variation of output current I_C with the Collector to emitter voltage V_CE is known as output characteristics.
