Some properties of irrational numbers are discussed below:

 

1.  Closure property: Irrational numbers are not clos4ed under the operations addition, subtraction, multiplication

  and division. To know about it you can go through the lesson 9 of this chapter.

 

2.  Commutative property: For two irrational number a and b

  (i)  a + b = b + a

  (ii)  ab = ba

 

3.  Associative property: For three irrational number a, b and c

  (i)  a + (b + c) = (a + b) + c

  (ii)  a(bc) = (ab)c

 

4.  Distributive property: For three irrational number a, b and c

  (i)  a (b + c) = ab + ac

  (ii)  a (b – c) = ab – ac
