Q. DNA content has the tendency to double itself during sexual reproduction due to combining of the genetic materials from two parents. How can the problem of DNA doubling be solved to maintain the consistency of the genetic material throughout the species? (3 marks question)

During sexual reproduction, the sperms which are formed in testis are haploid. Similarly, the ovum formed in ovary is also haploid. When a sperm and an ovum is met a diploid structure called zygote is formed. Thus, the constancy of the genetic material is made due to meiosis occurring during formation of sperm and ovum.

constant of DNA  number is because gametes are formed by meiosis division .during sexual reproduction the diploid no.of parent chromosome changes into haploid no.because of meiosis division .therefore at last in the progeny the diploid no.of chromosome are transferred, as the contribution of genetic material from both the maternal &paternal sides .
