Q. What is absorption and assimilation?

Dear Student,

Absorption: The process of absorption takes place in the small intestine. Here, the digested food is absorbed in the blood through the villi, which are sac-like structures.

Assimilation: The food absorbed by blood is transported to various parts of the body by blood vessels. This process is known as assimilation.

Hope this helps,

When digestion is complete, the digested food must be moved from the digestive system into the blood system for movement around the body. This process is called ABSORPTION and it occurs in the small intestine. Assimilation occurs right after absorption, as the food molecules become part of the bodies tissue
