1) The Government has always made policies and executed them to eradicate unemployment from India. The following are the most important steps taken by the Government to solve the problem of unemployment from India:

  • High Production targets- In all the budgets the Government aims for more GDP than the previous years. The process of increased production naturally calls for more employment for the people of he country.
  • The government has taken steps to make employment more productive as well. For this it is important to educate the labours and get quality work force. The Government has thus opened a number of night schools for the working mass. The farmers are made aware of recent developments in technology by agricultural scientists too.
  • One of the most important way to control population is to curtail population. A number of birth control schemes have been introduced.
  • The growth and development of small and cottage industries are encouraged.
  • Employment for women also forms an important policy of the government.
  • Apart from these the Government has come up with several employment schemes like:

2)The sentence implies that unemployment not only has economic effects but social too.

Unemployment means less money in the hands of the people, leading to reduced spending and less amount paid in the form of taxes. In a way this means that Government receives less revenue for some investments.

Less money in hand also means that people start spending from their savings and thus spend it only for their bare necessities. Investments become totally nill.

if there is large scale unemployment, often companies introduce cut in prices. This in return affect the profit margins of the Company and this in return brings in more unemployment.

Unemployment also has serious social effects. The unemployed population often become depressed and lose the moral to work again. Thus is a loss of the human capital and can affect the future productivity of the nation as well. With unemployment comes in 

When employment rate is high, production is also high and thus more GDP. However, high rate of unemployment means less GDP.
