 Answer1--->a)96 is a wrong term in the sequence because-à

The succeeding term in the sequence is the double of the preceding term. For eg->

1*2=2, 2*2=4

which doesn’t hold true for 96 since 64*2=128 which is not equal to 96.

b)122 is a wrong term because in this sequence because common difference of this sequence is not equal to preceding term like-à27-19=8, 61-27=34 which doesn’t holds true for 122,

122-61=61 which is not possible for this sequence.

 Q1)  a) The wrong term is 96. Here the common ratio between the terms is 2. The sequence is as follows  1, 1*2=4, 4*2=8, 8*2=16, 16*2=32...... So the last term should be 128 and not 96.

b) The first two terms are both wrong. they should be 5 and 24.

5    = (2*2*2) -3      24   = (3*3*3) -3      61   = (4*4*4) -3       122 =(5*5*5) -3        213 =(6*6*6) -3      340 =(7*7*7) -3  509 =(8*8*8) -3

Q2) Let the ages of the two persons be x (elder) and y (younger) . therefore  x - y = 10    -(equation 1)

15 years ago,  their ages will be x-15 and y-15.  According to the given condition,

x -15 = 2 (y-15) ,

i.e  x - 15 = 2y -30 ,

i.e. x - 2y = -15 (equation 2)

solving euations 1 and 2.

x = 35 and y=25

So, the present age of the elder one is 35 years

Answer2) Let the age of one person be 'x' and another person be 'y'

x-y=10 ----(1)
x-10=y-----(2)
Next Condition,
2(y-15)= x-15
=> 2y-30= x-15
=> 2y-x= -15+30
=> 2y-x= 15----(3)
Substituting the value of y from equation (2) in equation (3),
2(x-10)-x=15
=> 2x-20-x=15
=> x= 15+20
=> x=35
Now,
y= x-10
=> y= 35-10=25
Required Answer-->Therefore the present age of the elder one is 35 years.
