raman bought 5 flower pots of three different sizes for a total of rs 290. each pot costs 50 percent more than the next onebelow it in size.what was the cost of the largest flower pot? please provide solution as soon as possible.

Answer :

Let , here  Raman buy 2 small , 2 medium and 1 big flower pot .

Let price of small flower pot  =  x  ,

So price of medium flower pot , according to given condition  ,

x + 50% of x  =  x  +  50x10032 x
So,

Price of big flower pot , according to given condition  ,

32 x  + 50% of 32 x    =  32 x    +  50× 32x100 = 32x + 150x200 32 x  +  34 x  = 3 + 64x  = 94 x

And as given total price of all five pots  =  Rs 290  .

SO,

xx  + 32 x  +  32 x  + 94 x  =  290

Taking LCM we get

4x  + 4x  + 6x  +  6x  + 9x4    =  290

29x4  =  290

x  =  40

So Price of big flower pot  = 94 x  =  94 ( 40 ) =  Rs . 90  ( Ans )

Let the cost of smallest flowerpot be rs.x.Then cost of second flowerpot = (3/2)x and of largest flowerpot is (3/2)x*3/2= (9/4)x

x+x+(3/2)x+(3/2)x+(9/4)x = Rs.290 (29/4)x = 290 29 x= 290*4 29x= 1160 x=1160/29=40

So, cost of smallest pot = Rs.40 Cost of largest pot = (9/4)*40=Rs.90

So,answer =Rs. 90
