Ravi's parents have normal colour vision but his maternal grandfather is colour blind. Gene for colour vision is located on the X chromosome.
a) Work out a cross showing the percentage of chances and his siblings being colour blind.
b) What is the genotype of mother
c) state the type of inheritance being shown in the above cross.
Experts I have solved few q/s of genetics on my own so how will u check them can I post at least two to three q/ans to check

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

(a) The colourblind grandfather has X'Y (X' represents defective gene); thus, the Ravi's mother is carrier of colour blindness. Ravi's father is normal. A cross between normal father (XY) and carrier mother (X'X) is as follows:

X

Y

X'

XX'  Carrier female

X'Y  Affected Male

X

XX  Normal female

XY  Normal male

Hence, their is 25% chance that Ravi would be colour blind. 25% chance that his sibling would be carrier (female) and 50% chances of normal siblings.

(b) The genotype of the mother would be X'X.

(c) It shows sex-linked recessive inheritance.

X”

Y

X

XX”  Carrier female

XY  Normal Male

X

XX”  Carrier female

XY  Normal male
