The compound having same molecular formula but different number of carbon atoms on either side of polyvalent functional group are called metamers and the phenomena is called metamerism.

Example: 1- CH3CH2 COOCH2CH3 and CH3COO CH2CH2CH3

2- CH3CH2COCH2CH3and CH3CH2CH2COCH3
