solid copper sulphate does not conduct electricity , but when it is dissolved in water, it does conduct electricity.why?

Solid copper sulphate when dissolved in water dissociates to Cu2+ and so42- ions. As ions in the solution conducts electricity, dissociated ions of copper sulphate in water conducts electricity.
