"The chromosome number of sexually reprodecing parents and their offsprings is the same".Justify this statement.

In sexually reproducing parents, the germ cells have half the number of chromosomes and DNA as compared to the other non-reproductive cells of the body. When the germ cells,i.e the sperm and ova combine with each other at the time of sexual reproduction, the original chromosome number is attained in the zygote. This zygote further develops into a complete individual having the same chromosome number as present in the parents.

total number of chromosomes in a normal person is 46. but The number of chromosomes present in the gamates (sperm or egg) is 23.

so a child inherits 23 chromosomes from mother and 23 from father. So the total number of cromosomes remains the same as in parent individual.

hope i helped
