In Munro system the farmer was recognized as the owner of the land.  The company made a revenue settlement directly with the peasants. Thomas Munro developed this system. So it is known as Munro system.

Mahalwari system - An Englishman, Holt Mackenzie introduced a new system of Mahalwari in 1822 A.D. According to it, a settlement was made with the village communities which maintained a form of common ownership known as Mahals.the system in which the change of collection the revenue and paying it to the company was given to the village headman,rather than the zamindar was called mahalwari system
 


Permanent settlement of Land - This system of land was introduced by Lord Cornwallis in Bengal in 1793. In this, zamindars became the permanent owners of the land and the land revenue given by them was fixed. They were free to collect revenue from cultivators as much as they wanted.
