x + y = 180 .....B......they are supplementary angles

x = y +18........A.......given                                                                            

SUBSTITUTING A IN B......substitution method

x + y = 180

(y +18) + y = 180

y + y +18 = 180

2y + 18 = 180

2y  = 180 -18

2y  = 162

y  = 162 /2  = 81

FROM A

x = y +18

x = 81+18 = 99

SO x =81

 y =  99
