The lengths of the diagonals of a rhombus are 16cm and 12cm.Then, the length of the side of the rhombus is

a)9cm  b)10cm  c)8cm  d)20cm

justify the answer.

 its

b) 10 cm

first properties of a rhombus

1. Diagnols bisect each other equally and at 90 degree.

2. All the sides are equal.

now  diagonals of length 16cm and 12cm are bisecting each other at 90 degree.

  • 5

 then diagnols will become be halved equally.

16cm will become 8cm and 8cm

12cm will become 6cm and 6cm

according to pythogarus theorem

 let the length of the diagonal to be x.

then, xsquare=8square+ 6 square

x= root of 8square+ 6square

x=root of 64+36

x=root of 100 which is 10

it means that lenth of the side of rhombus is 10cm

  • 4

 x= 8^2+6^2 under root

x= 10cm- lenth of the rhombus.

  • 1

10 should be the answser

  • 0

10 should be the answer since diagonals in rombus bisect at 90 thereforewe can find using phythagorus theoram.
