The ratio of 2 person's income is 9 : 7 and their ratio ofexpenditures is 4 : 3. If each of them saves Rs 2000 per month, find their monthly incomes.

Let the income of the persons be 9x and 7x

Let the expenditure of the persons be 4y and 3y.

Now it is given that both of them saves 2000 each.

So

9x-4y = 2000        1..

7x-3y = 2000        2 ..

From 1...         x = 2000+4y /9x
Putting this value of x in 2....

we get 7x* 2000+4y /9x - 3y = 2000
28y+14000/9 - 3y = 2000
3y+2000 = 28y+14000/9
27y+ 18000 = 28y+14000
y+14000 = 18000
y = 4000

So the expenditure of 1st person will be 16000 and 2nd person will be 12000
Income = expenditure+saving
So the income of first person will be 16000+2000 = 18000
And the income of second person will be 12000+2000 = 14000

Dear Student!

@all: Good effort! Keep posting!

This is just a minor mistake in the answers.

From (1), we have

Putting this value in (2), we get

Cheers!

hi verma,

Let the income of the two persons be 9x : 7x

Let the expenditure of the persons be 4y : 3y.

Since, both the people saves Rs 2000 each .

Therefore, 9x-4y = 2000 { Equation ( 1)}

and 7x-3y = 2000  {Equation (2 )}

From equation (1) the value of x = 2000 + 4y /9x
By substituting the value in equation (2)
7x* 2000+4y /9x - 3y = 2000
= 28y+14000/9 - 3y = 2000
= 3y+2000 = 28y+14000/9
= 27y+ 18000 = 28y+14000
= y+14000 = 18000
therefore, y = 4000
The expenditure incurred by thr first person will be Rs16000 and 2nd person will be Rs12000
Total Income of each individual = expenditure incurred + saving
therefore, the income of Ist person= 16000+2000 = Rs18000
The income of 2nd person = 12000+2000 = Rs14000

hope it helps

ANS: Let the income of the two  persons  be 9x  :  7x

Let the expenditure of the persons be 4y : 3y.

Since, both the people saves Rs 2000 each .

Therefore,  9x-4y = 2000   ............... Equation ( 1)

 and  7x-3y = 2000     .......................  Equation (2 )

From equation (1) the value of    x = 2000 + 4y /9x

By substituting the value in equation (2)

  7x* 2000+4y /9x - 3y = 2000
=> 28y+14000/9 - 3y = 2000
=> 3y+2000 = 28y+14000/9
 => 27y+ 18000 = 28y+14000
=> y+14000 = 18000
therefore,  y = 4000
The expenditure incurred by thr first person will be Rs16000 and 2nd person will be Rs12000
Total Income of each individual  = expenditure incurred + saving
therefore, the income of Ist person=  16000+2000 = Rs18000
The income of 2nd person  =  12000+2000 = Rs14000
