The major problems faced by indian rivers and the causes of their pollution;

1. Pollution due to untreated sewage.
India lakes suffucient treatment
capacity and the sawage treatment
plants that exist do not operate and
are not maintained.
2. Other source of river polluted are
agricultural runoff and unregulated
small scale industry. The loose laws
and policies do not restrict
industries in the vicinity of rivers
to discharge their water full of
harmful chemicals after treating.
3. The agriculture runoff consists of
harmful chemicals like pesticides
and insecticides which toxicant the
water and prove fatal for aquatic
life.
4. All the mojor rivers like Ganga,
Yamuna, Gomti, Ghaghra River,
Chambal etc. are facing the
problem of increased level of
coiform.
5. The religious duties performed at
the Ganga and Yamuna rivers are
also the cause of their pollution.
Thousands of bodies are
creamated on the banks of the
river and many dead bodies are
released on rivers. Moreover many
unwanted or illegitimate babies,
cattle and other animal carcass are
also dumped due to religious
significance in these holly rivers.
6. The pilgrimage in some of the holly
rivers are also the cause of rivers
pollution. Thousands of them wash
, sip and release holly things in the
rivers.
7. The biggest problem is, it all go
neglected and ignored. Inspite of
beings aware about the problems
and its serious consequence it
goes silent.
