Actually in India, many meridiand pass through and india is a big country, so every place in india has different local time. so the some people had set 88 and half degree east as the standard time of india so we all follow the same time. remember when a place is to the east of another it is ahead in time of another, when a place is too the west of another it is behind in time of the other.
