There is this formula in our text bk:

Q=n*e .  If e stands for the no. of electrons, what does n stand for?

Hi Florine

In the equation, Q = n*e,

‘Q’ stands for total charge on the body/system under consideration.

‘n’ stands for the number of free electrons in the body/system under consideration.

‘e’ stands for the amount of charge on one electron.

What the formula Q = n*e means is, if you multiply the charge on a single electron by the total number of electrons, you’ll get the total charge of the body/system.

Hope you got it!

In your ques. it was said that e = no. of electrons,

Actually

In the equation, Q = n*e,

‘Q’ stands for total charge on the body/system under consideration.

‘n’ stands for the number of free electrons in the body/system under consideration.
