unlike amphibians reptiles don't lay eggs why ?

Dear Student,

Reptiles do lay eggs. Reptiles lay their eggs outside water because the growing reptiles inside the egg need enough oxygen to breathe and certain amount of warmth to incubate.

Both amphibians and reptiles reproduce through laying eggs the only difference is that amphibians lay eggs in water, whereas, reptiles lay eggs with hard coverings so they donot have to lay eggs in water.
