Virginia disappearancedisappearance brings her to foreforefront.Explain
Compared to her brothers and father, Virginia is a quiet character who is content to live her life in the shadows because she knows her own strengths and her non-participation does not entail weakness of spirit. In fact, it is quite the opposite as we come to see during the course of her interaction with the ghost. She is not only fearless and level-headed like the rest of the family but she also has a purity of heart and generosity of spirit that is unparalleled. The ghost was never troubled by Virginia and he also did not think much about frightening her. It is she who eventually comes to his rescue and helps him attain salvation. Virginia was a little girl of fifteen, lithe and sportive as a fawn with a fine freedom in her large blue eyes. We can gauge that she must be athletic and free-spirited because she had once raced old Lord Bilton on her pony twice round the park, winning by a length and a half, just in front of the Achilles statue. She seemed to be a young Amazon in the making so quite early in the story, we cautioned not to take her lightly. However, it is with her disappearance that the focus of attention shifts to her and her family realized that she is missing.
