Water in a canal 6m wide and 1.5m deep is flowing with a speed of 10km/hr.

How much area will it irrigate in 30min,if 8cm of standing water is needed?

Volume of the water coming out in 1 hour of 6 m wide and 1.5 deep with speed of 10 km /hr (speed = 10*1000 m/hr)

therefore the volume of the water coming out in 30 min

let the area irrigated be .

standing water height be h = 8 cm = 8/100 = 0.08 m

therefore

since 1 hectare = 10000 sq m

thus the area irrigated = 56.25 hectare

hope this helps you.

For the canal --->b=6m l=1.5m

h= 10km/hr

= 10000m/hr

= 10000/60.30 m/30min

= 5000m/30min

Volume of water in the canal/ 30 min....

l.b.h = 1.5 X 6 X 5000

= 45000 m3

Now area it will irrigate in 30min with 8cm of standing water...

45000/8/100 m= 4500000/8 m3

= 562500m3 = 562500/ 10000 hectares

= 56.25 hectares.

thumps up if it helps

given, speed = 10km/hr = 10000m/hr

time = 30 minutes

width of canal = 6 m and height of canal = 1.5 m

cross section area of canal = width of canal * height of canal

= (6 * 1.5 )m2

volume of water flowed from canal in one hour = cross section area * speed of water

= 6 * 1.5 * 10000

=6 * 15000

=90000 m3

volume of water in half an hour = 90000 * 1/2

= 45000 m 3

height of standing water = 25 cm = 0.25 m

volume of water flowed in 30 minutes = volume of water in field

45000 = area * height

45000 = area * 0.08 m

area = 45000/0.08

area = 562500 m2

1 hactare = 10000 m2

so area irrigated in 30 minutes = 56.25 hectares

SORRY FOR ANY MISTAKE IF ANY

tnx every1...n gud luck ..cheers :D

width = 6m

deep=1.5m

speed (length)=10km/hr = 10000m/h

volume of water flow in 1 hr = speed x width x depth

=10000 x 6 x 1.5

=90000m3

Volume of water flow in 30 min = 1/2 x volume of water flow in 1 hr

=1/2 x 90000

=45000

Volume of water irrigated = volume of water flow in 30 min

Volume of water irrigated = base area (of irrigated land) x height

= base area x 8cm =base area x 0.08m

45000 = base area x 0.08

base area = 45000/0.08

=562500 m2

We will assume water canal in the shape of cube .

So ,

  1. Wide = 6m
  2. Deep = 1.5 m
  3. Length= 10km

Area of the canal = 6m X 10000m X 1.5m in one hours .

Area of the canal = 6m X 5000m X 1.5m in 30 min .

area will irrigate in the shape of cuboid . So , height = 8cm

area of irrigating field = 6 X 5000 X1.5 / 8 = 56250m2

ANS :- 56250 METER.2
