The four main characters were the narrator, his wife Mary, his six year old son Jonathan and seven year old daughter Suzanne. There were two sailors also to help them out in their journey. All of faced a rough, tormented sea. Everyone was greatly injured, still they did not panic. The children handled the situation more maturely than their elders. Sue tried to cheer up the depressing atmosphere by making card for her parents. She drew some cartoons and wrote on it that she had drawn the picture of some funny persons which would make them laugh. Inside the card she wrote a message. She thanked her parents and wrote that she loved them. She hoped for the best to come and that, they had to make for it somehow. The care and love that was expressed in the card by their seven years old daughter in spite of all her pains moved her parents.  John’s behavior even was more praiseworthy. He showed immense courage by saying that they were not afraid to die if they are all together. It was a great example of unity and trust that they had on each other.
