what are autozomes.why are they necessary ?

Autosomes are the pairs of chromosomes other than sex chromosomes. These chromosome controls different characters of the organism other than sex-linked traits. For example: Skin color, height, pigmentation etc these are the traits that are controlled by autosomes. In humans there are 22 pairs of chromosomes which are autosomes.
