what are insulator and conductor

Hi,

Insulators - Materials that don not conduct heat or electricty are called insulators.

Conductors - Materials that conduct heat or electricty are called conductors.

Insulators :- Which do not allow electricity to flow through them . EX.- Wool , Wood , Rubber and plastic etc .

Conductors :- Which allow electricity to flow through them . EX.- Metal wire , human body , water and Glass etc .

Conductors allow electricity to flow through them and insulators prevent electrical flow. Conductors have an outer shell of electrons that only have one or two valence electrons. That means that the electrons can flow easily. Materials that have a full eight electrons in their outer (valence) level are good insulators because they do not allow the electrons to flow. Air is a good insulator. That is why lightning is so violent. It has to overcome an incredible resistance to jump as far as it does. That is why it is so powerful. I can tell you from personal experience that it hurts a lot when you get hit by lightning.THANK YOU,SAHITI
