what are the characters seen in patol babu

Sitalakanto Ray, popularly known as Patol Babu, is an ordinary man, 52 years of age, trying to earn a decent, honest livelihood in Calcutta. in his youth, in Kanchrapada, he used to act on the stage and was much in demand as an actor. But then he came to Calcutta and served a British company with loyalty and punctuality till he was retrenched in 1943. He did different jobs, opened a shop, sold insurance and dealt in scrap iron but without much success. This phase of his life shows that he is honest, hard working and sincere. when the offer for a small walk- on role with a single word 'oh ' as his dialogue comes, the actor in him awakens once again and he performs even this tiny role with meticulous care and sincerity. He recalls the advice of his mentor, Mr Pakrashi, that no role, no dialogue is too small for an actor who must put his heart and soul into it. He performs his small role with perfection and feels pride and satisfaction in his work, which is a reward much bigger than any money. This shows that Patol Babu was a true actor, thorough in his preparation and sincere in his performance.

Patol Babu was a meticulous man with a lot of perseverance. He was a very talented man who was gifted with the art of acting. He never lost faith in reality and overtook all challenges in life and faced all difficulties. He was offered a part in a movie in this story and he took it up. He was meticulous because he calculated the number of steps he needed to take before crashing into Chanchal Kumar. Similarly, he practised the variation in the dialogues with different tones. He was also a self concerned man because he ordered for a ginger tea with his wife the day before the movie was to be shot so that his voice will be loud and clear on the day of the movie. At last, he was a very grateful man and never gave up the responsibilities that were given to him even though he was a very mixed up man and a confused personality.
