What are the differences between velds and prairies?Give minimum 7 differences.

The Differences between Veld and Prairies are as follows :
 
Veld Prairies
1. They are temperate grasslands of South Africa 1.They are temperate grasslands of North America  
2. Here  vegetation cover is sparse 2. Tall grass, upto two metres high, dominates, the landscape in prairies.    
3. Velds are plateaus ranging from 600m to 1600 m height. 3. Prairies are region of Flat, gently sloping or hilly land.
4. It is bound by the Drakensburg Mountains on the east. To its west lies  the Kalahari desert. 4. The prairies are bound by the Rocky Mountains in the West and the Great Lakes in the East.

1 Meat packin & processing is the cheif industry of Argentina.This industry is one of the larsest meat exporters in the world.
2 Cattle rearing is done on commercial scales.
3 The animals are kept in large farms called esctancia.
4 The bones of animals are used for making fertilizers and the hides and skins of animals were used as by-products.
The major economic activities of velds:-
1 Cattle rearing is an important occupation in veld.
2 But, the most important industry in veld is sheep rearing.
3 Mining is another important occupation.
4 The region in gold,silver and diamonds.

The differences are as follows:

1) Prairies' rainy season is from july to september where as in velds it is from November to February.

2) Prairies are larger in terms of area than velds.

3) Prairies suffer harsh weather conditions where as velds suffer moderate weather conditions.

4) Prairies are mainly known for the mass food production where as velds are known for cattle rearing and mining.

5) The prairies are mostly plain where as in the velds there are plateaus ranging fromm 600m to 1600 m high.

6) Prairies have rocky mountains to their west and velds have drakensburk to their east.

7) Coal and iro like minerals are common in the prairies where as in the velds minerals like gold and diamond are likely to be found.

PRARIES

They stretch between the rocky mountains in the west and great lakes region of Canada and USA in the east.

this area has continental climate..

the average annual rainfall is less than 40cm..

willows and poplars are main trees..

the bison is the main animal..

it is also called granaries of the world..large population is engaged in allied activities..

VELD

these grasslands lie between drakensberg mountains and kalahari desert..

this region has mild climate..

the rainfall is about 25 to 30cm..

only grasses of acacia trees are found...

the wildlife comprises lions , leopards , cheetas , etc...

cattle and dairy farming are important occupations here..

it is also the gold capital of the world....
