1. it is a more accountable form of government
2. itimproves the quality of decision making
3. It provides a method to deal with differences and conflicts.

these competitions give equal opportunities to all citizens irrespective of their cast,race,place of birth,gender to elect their leaders.also leaders are selected as per the choice of citizens

Demerits -

  1. Misuse of govt. money by current govt. leaders.
  2. Small party who want to give for the society do not do any thing.
  3. Ulimately more copetitive leaders come in the power who do not give good work for the society.

Demerits of electoral competition are:-
1. It creates a sense of disunity and factionalism in every locality.
2. different political parties and leaders often put allegations against one another.
3. some good people who my wish to severe the country do not enter this field. 
Merits of electoral competition are:-
1.regular electoral competition provides incentives to political parties and leaders.
2. political competition helps to force political parties and leaders to serve the people.
