what do weighing machines show - weight or mass ?

Hi,

Weighing machine works on the principle of measuring weight. It measures the normal reaction of the body. When a body is put over the machine body is pulled towards the center of the earth. As the body is pulled towards the earth it applies force on the machine and the machine is calibrated in such way that it gives the mass of the body.
So, a weighing machine measures the mass of the body.

 mass (kg)

THEY MEASURE WEIGHT BUT THE DISPLAY IS THE MASS....IF YOU WANT YOUR WEIGHT TO BE CALCULATED,YOU MUST MULTIPLY YOUR MASS SHOWN BY THE MACHINE BY 9.8

X[YOUR MASS DISPLAYED]*9.8[GRAVITATIONAL FORCE OF THE EARTH]

if the weighing machine measures the mass of the body then how our mass changes when we are small and when we grow up our mass changes???

This is biological process. As we grow up,our body develops- our height increases, our mass increases and many other processes take place. So we cannot compare the increasing mass of our body with the mass shown by weighing machine.
