ploid means number of chromosomes in a cell.cells with 2 sets of chromosomes are called diploid(di means 2) and cells with 1 set of chromosome is called haploid.

A cell having 23 pairs ofchromosomes i.e. 46 chromosomes, are classified into diploid cell having 23 chromosomes i.e. a gamete cell , are classified into haploid cell .
