What happens during digestion? Write a balanced chemical equation for the reaction involved in digestion.

During digestion large complex food particles are broken down into smaller particles. There are various processes that are going on like the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats and proteins simultaneously and a balanced chemical equation for all these processes is not possible.

But we can try to write the equation as

Carbohydrates + Proteins + Fats →  (sugar)n + (amino acids)n + Fatty acids + glycerol.

during digestion our stomach produces HCl to digest d food and mucus to neutralise the acidic food....

during digestion, food (complex molecules) is broken down into simpler molecules so as to produce energy.

C6H12O6 + O2  = CO2 + H2O + ENERGY (exothermic reaction)

SORRY I FORGOT TO BALANCE THE EQUATION .......

but the correct equation is    C6H12O6 + 6O2 =  6CO2 + 6H2O + ENERGY

c6h12o6+6o2=6co2+6h2o

in respiration, food is broken or oxidised in the presence oe oxygen inhaled.in this process energy is liberated.so respiration is called exothermic reaction.

C6H12O6+6O2=6CO2+6H2O+energy
