what is an insulator? explain on the basis of structure of an atom?

Dear Student!!

Insulator is a substance that is both poor conductor of heat and electricity. Both the properties arises due to absence of free electrons in the substance. Electron of are tightly bound to the atoms of insulators and they are not free to move.
