Hyaloid canal is a small transparent tube like structure running through the vitreous body, which connects the optical nerve disc to the lens of the eye. Its function is to provide nutrition to the lens during fetal development. In adults it plays a role in accommodation of the eye. It is made up of connective and epithelial tissue.
