Mensuration refers to the branch of mathematics that deals with measuring, calculating and estimating lengths, areas and volumes of as well as construction of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional objects.

mensuration in its literal meaning is to measure, its generally used where geometrical figures are concerned, where one has to determine various physical quantities such as area,volume,length ...measuring these quantities is called mensuration..also it is used where quantities like speed,,velocity and acceleration etc are concerned

While the measurement results obtained by the use of mensuration are estimates rather than actual physical measurements, the calculations are usually considered very accurate.
