What is ph scale ?

pH is the measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. The term pH stands for‘Potential of Hydrogen’. pH scale is a scale with respect to which the hydrogen ion concentration of different solutions is measured. The pH scale varies from 0 to 14. A pH value from 0 to 6.9 represents acidic solutions, while a pH value from 7.1 to 14 represents basic solutions. A pH value of 7 indicates that a solution is neither acidic nor basic i.e. it is neutral.

THE STRENGTH OF AN ACID OR BASE IS MEASURED ON AN SCALE OF NUMBERS CALLED pH SCALE. IT HAS VALUES FROM 0 TO 14.

- NEUTRAL SUBSTANCES HAVE pH OF EXACTLY 7.

- ACIDS HAVE A pH OF LESS THEN 7.MORE ACIDIC A SOLUTION LOWER WILL BE IT 'S pH.

- BASES HAVE A pH OF MORE THEN 7.MORE BASIC A SOLUTION HIGHER WILL BE ITS pH.
