what is reversible and irreversible change

A reversible change is the one in which a substance that is undergoing the change can be recovered in its original form.

For example, when ice cubes are kept at room temperature for some time, they melt to give water. If the same tray containing water is kept in a freezer, then the water turns into ice. As the ice cubes are re-obtained when the tray is kept in the freezer, the change is reversible.

The change in which a substance that is undergoing the change cannot be re-obtained is known as an irreversible change. Hence, it can be said that an irreversible change is the one in which a substance that is undergoing the change cannot be recovered in its original form.

the subtance which can come back to its original form after some change is called reversible change

the subtance which can not come back to it's original form after some change is called irreversible change

Reversible change - Changes which can be undone are called reversible change. All physical changes are reversible changes.

Irreversible change - Changes which cannot be undone are called irreversible change. All chemical changes are irreversible changes. (Some are exceptions)

Hope this helps!!

REVERSiBLE CHANGE

The changes took place on a object on its physical states (propereties) after the change the object can be reverse to original form.This type of changes are called Reversible change or it is also known as Physical change

=> it is reversible

=> it take over physical properties like colour,size etc....

=> it do not change in to a new substance

eg:

  • melting of wax (candle sticks)
  • melting of metals
  • cuting a paper sheet into pieces

IRREVERSIBLE CHANGE

The changes took place on a object on its chemical states (propereties) after the change the object cannot bereverse to original form.This type of changes are called Irreversible change or it is also known as Chemical change

=> it is irreversible

=> it take over chemical properties like colour,size etc....

=> it change in to a new substance

eg:

  •  burning of paper
  •  burning of Mg
