What is rhe difference between cathode rays and anode rays???

Cathode rays- A beam of negatively charged particles coming out of cathode when an electric charge is passed through gases at very low temperature. These rays travel in straight line. These are deflected by electric and magnetic field.

Anode rays- A beam of positively charged particles coming out of anode when an electric charge is passed through gases at very low temperature. These rays also travel in straight line but their velocity is less than that of cathode rays. These are deflected by electric and magnetic field but the magnitude is less than that of cathode rays.

cathode rays are negatively charged particles and anode rays are postively charged partices nd cathode rays were found by a experiment by a english scientist william crookes in 1878 the cathode rays travel in straight line and were blue rays which were emitted from the negative plate ...i.e cathode rays

hope this helps u ......

cathod rays are a stream of negatively charged particles. These rays were produced when Sir J J Thomson conducted an experiment in a discharge tube in which air at less pressure and high voltage is used. the pressure of gas is usually made 0.01 to 0.001 mm of Hg and current of 10000 volts is applied to make it a good conductor of electricity. The particles constituting these rays are known as electrons.

The characteristics properties of cathode rays are.

1 These rays consists of negatuively charged particles.

2. these rays are a stream of fast moving particles.

3. They possess kinetic energy.

4 these can penetrate through matter.

5 their e/m ratio is constant

6 They produced floroscence on soda lime glass.

Anode rays are a stream of positively charged particles. These were discovered by E. Goldstein when he used a perforated cathode in the disharge tube. The constituent particles of these rays are known as protons . Their characteristics properties are

1 they are fast moving positively charged particles.

2 their e/m changes. It depends on the nature of gas used.

3 the also possess kinetic energy.
