What is sex ratio and how it was in unflourable to females in india

Dear Student,

Sex ration can be understood as the ratio of number of males to the female population. In India, it is calculated as number of females per thousand male members. According to the recent data, the sex ratio of India is 943.

The reasons for the unfavourable conditions pertaining to sex ratio in India are-

1.Girls in India are not as adequately looked after as boys.

2.Pervasive male child preference which has been the cause for female foeticide and female infanticide.

3.Illiteracy on a large scale and preconceived notions.4.Social evils like dowry and purdah system keep women behind curtains.5.The burden of bearing children at an early age, and the greater frequency of births in short intervals leads to the death of many women.
