 Shifting cultivation is when the physical and human environment work together. This is especially useful when the mass majority of the population are farmers. By shifting cultivation, this would help the used land for farming rejuvenate and get back the nutrients it has lost. Though this takes a long time, it still helps to recycle land and save resources.

This is when you would either leave that area alone for a few years or plant a crop that puts nitrates back into the soil. Crop rotation is key in large-scale, long term operations.
