Below are some points that should help you frame the character sketch of:

1. Persome:

  • Persome is Bishop's sister.
  • Not generous and kind as her brother Bishop
  • Skeptical eye towards the people even if they are suffering.
  • Considers sick Mere Gringoire to be lazy
  • Rude treatment with Marie
  • Non-believer in general goodness of humanity
  • Cold attitude towards the downtrodden

2. Bishop:

  • He was a person highly influenced by Christian ideals of justice, empathy and compassion.
  • He was highly helpful to the needy. The example of selling the salt-cellars proves this.
  • He was a man who believed in the concept of forgiveness. He didn't want to punish the convict because he knew that would do him and his soul no good.
  • He was a very successful bishop, best suited for what he did. He believed all that he preached.
  • He had a very simple character and he was extremely honest and true to his idea.

3. Convict:

  • A normal life was led by him before he became a criminal
  • Societal pressures led him to this path
  • No belief in religion
  • Severe punishment made him cold and soulless
  • Bishop's generosity extracted the lost human in him

Persome is really portrayed as a cruel and hard-hearted women. she is just the opposite of the bishop in terms of human values. she has a narrow thinking unlike the large heartedness and benevolence of the bishop. she is self-centred and thinks of her own interests. she rebukes marie for telling the bishop that her mother is ill. the bishop would visit her then. she shows her cruelty and hard-heartedness towards the convict. this happens when he steals the bishop 's candlesticks. persome wants the bishop to inform the police to arrest the convict. she, however, loves her brother, the bishop, and feels greatly concerned for him. she dosen 't trust the people for the bishop 's sake. they may exploit the bishop. he is very simple-hearted and helpful. he sells his salt-cellars to help mere gringoire because she can 't pay the house rent. but persome dosen 't like it at all.

Per some was a practical, impatient lady. She love she bishop dearly nd is fiercely protetive of him. She knows he is a wonderful man and is very proud of his nobility but she feels that his innocence is often misused by people. She has very humane flaws like temper, pride, suspicion and a great deal of attachment to material wealth. This is excusable as she is actually a very loving person.
