Dear Student,

Physical changesChemical changes
  • Composition of the substance does not change.

  • Most changes are irreversible.
  • No new substances are formed, e.g,

 Ice → Water → Steam.

  • New substances are formed, e.g,

 Burning of Paper → Ashes

  • For example, melting of ice, dissolving salt in water.
  • For example, rusting of iron, decay of food.
