what is the difference between electrovalent and covalent bond?

the basic diff is that electrovalent bonds consist of ions, while covalent bonds do not :

...........TRANSFER of one or more electrons from one atom to the other forms Electrovalent bonds.

...........MUTUAL SHARING of one, two or three pairs of e- b/w 2 atoms forms Covalent bonds.

Electrovalent bonds are usually formed between a metal and a non-metal, while covalent bonds are formed between 2 non-metals :)

ans. is quite simple,the basic reasons are;

1-electrovalent bond is formed by transfer of electrons

2-all elec. bond can be broken by electicity into ions i.e. dissociation but,

 only polar cov. bonds can be ionised by dissolving in water i.e. by ionisation
