what is the difference between regenration and fragmentation?

Dear Student

Fragmentation is a type of asexual reproduction where the body of the parents break and each fragment is capable of giving rise to a new organism. This is particularly seen in plants like algae.

Regeneration is the growth of amputated or injured part. For example the lizard is capable of regenerating its lost tail. Invertebrates such as planaria, hydra and sponges are able to regenerate their whole body from their cut part. In these animals it is a type of asexual.

Best!
