what is the difference between self inductance and mutual inductance?

Self inductance is the phenomenon according to which an opposing induced emf is produced in a coil as a unit of change of magnetic flux linked.
Mutual inductance is the phenomenon according to which the opposing emf is produced in a coil due to change in magnetic flux linked with a neighboring coil

In self inductance the coil it-self disturbers its magnetic field. Thus current is induced in the coil by itself only. But in mutual induction current is induced in a secondary coil using another primary coil as secondary coil disturbers the magnetic field of the primary coil.
