What is the difference betwwen heat capacity and specific heat capacity ?
Hello,
The differences between specific heat capacity and heat capacity are
Heat capacity | Specific heat capacity |
1) It is the heat required to increase the temperature of material of any mass(m) by 10C. So H = ms | 1) It is the heat required to increase the temperature by 10C of any material of mass 1kg. s = ΔQ |
2) It depends on the mass of material. | 2) It is independent of the mass of material. |
3) Its SI unit is J/k. | 3) Its SI unit is J/(kg-k) |
For example, specific heat of water is 4.179 J/g/°C and heat capacity of water for 100g is 41.79 J/°C.
