Actually there is no formula for displacement.I think you are a little confused with the concept.

Displacement is the shortest distance between the initial and final position of an object.If an object covers a distance of 50m and then returns to the place where it started then the total distance covered by it is 100m( 50m of going and 50m of returning) and the displacement is 0m as the final and initial positions are the same!!
