1. The latitudinal extent of india is from 8 degrees 4 minutes N to 37 degrees 6 minutes N.

2. The latitudinal extent of india influences the duration of day and night as one moves from south to north.

3. Kanyakumari is just 8 degrees from equator. As the equator recieves the direct rays of the sun throughout the year, there will be hardly any diffrence between the duration of day and night. Kashmir is farther away from the equator so it will have a diffrence of 4-5 hours between the duration of day and night.

India lies wholly in the northern and eastern hemispheres. The main land of India extends from 8o 4 ' 28 " N to 37o 17 ' 53 " N latitudes and from 68o 7 ' 53 " E to 97o 24 ' 47 " E longitudes. The latitudinal and longitudinal extent of India is approximately the same i.e. 30o. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands extend further southwards and add to the latitudinal extent of India. The southernmost point known as the Indira Point in the Great Nicobar Island is at 6o 45 ' N. The latitudinal extent of India from Kashmir in the north to Kanyakumari in the south is 3,214 km.  After the defeat of Germany in the war, the German emporer abdicated and Weimar Republic was proclaimed by the national assembly with a federal structure.

  • The Republic could never become popular. The people made this govt. responsible for accepting the humilating treaty of versailles
  • People made this government responsible for the miseries experienced by the people.
  • The Weimer Republic was being made to pay for the sins of the old empire. The
supporters of the Weimer Republic mainly socialists, Catholics and Democrats
became easy targets of attack in nationalist circles.
  • Democracy and republican government was yet a new idea, the importance of which
was not easily comprehended by the common people.
