what is the meaning of hydration enthalpy ??

Dear Student,

The enthalpy change when one mole of an substance is completely surrounded by water is called enthalpy of hydration. This enthalpy helps in solubility.

It is a major factor which decides the enthalpy of solution.

Hydration enthalpy is the energy released when 1 mol of a substance is dissolved into a solution. It is always negative, as attraction bonds (e.g. dative, ion-dipole) are being formed.
