what is the meaning of intensity of sound wave?

Asked by Nabasindhu Das(St. Patrick's Higher Secondary School) , on 30/11/12

Sound intensity or acoustic intensity ( I ) is defined as the sound power P per unit area A. Though the usual context is the noise measurement of sound intensity in the air at a listener's location as a sound energy quantity.

Since Sound waves are introduced into a medium by the vibration of an object. The greater the amplitude of vibrations of the particles of the medium, the greater the rate at which energy is transported through it, and the more intense that the sound wave is.
